A room facing on Piazza Navona
A room facing on Piazza Navona. Charming Navona’s structure is straight in the heart of Rome and is “hosted” by one of the most beautiful and famous places in the capital: Piazza Navona. Staying in our rooms means waking up and breathing the roman air and history.
This piazza, for who doesn’t know, was built by Pamphili family, and was in times past a stadium realized by the emperor Domiziano in 85 A.D, it could contain about 30.000 spectators. Lacking of “carceres” (entrance gates for horses) and “spina” (wall’s division), the stadium was exclusively used for athletes competitions.
It offers numerous visible works such as historical palaces:
- Palazzo Braschi
- Palazzo de Torres - Lancillotti
- Palazzo Pamphili
- Palazzo Tuccimei
and more such as:
- Quattro fiumi’s fountain (Gian Lorenzo Bernini)
- Art works by Borromini and Rainaldi
- Piero da Cortona’s frescos (inside Palazzo Pamphili)
- Sant’Agnese in Agone’s church
In ancient times, this piazza hosted a local market, comparable to the Campo de’ Fiori’s one. It followed a curve trend, today suspended.
This market was fulfilled of food banks and street shows during the Christmas period to animate the whole piazza. This period culminates in the well known “Befana” festivity in Piazza Navona on the 6th January.
If you want to experience this beautiful and traditional show, Charming Navona is happy to accommodate you in our rooms.
